How to Set up the Study Phone for Automatic Updates – Android
After you have finished your testing week, please go ahead and set up the study phone for automatic updates. If you need help, go to step 5 to request help.
Step 1: Log into the phone with a Google account

Instructions:
- Open your device’s Settings app
- Tap Accounts > Add account > Google. Follow the instructions to add your account
Step 2: Set up automatic app updates
Watch a step by step video. Note google has changed step 2 but they have not updated the video. My written instructions below show you a more accurate step 2 process.
To set up updates for individual apps on your device:
- Open the Google Play Store app
- Tap the circle to the right of the search bar (See picture on the right)
- Tap Settings
- Tap General
- Tap Auto-update apps
- Select Over Wi-Fi only
The app will update automatically when updates are available.
Step 3: Check for MAP ARC app updates
- Go to the Play Store
- Search for MAP ARC and select the WashU Med app
- Click Update if it is available. If it says Open it means that there are no updates*

Step 4: Set up automatic software updates
- Open your device’s Settings app
- Tap Software Update > turn on Auto download over Wi-Fi
- Tap on Download and Install (if available)
